Peace of Mind: Healing Sound Bath with Lori Lea
Peace of Mind: Healing Sound Bath with Lori Lea
12/6/24 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Blue Lotus Buddhist Temple and Meditation Center, 221 Dean St, Woodstock, IL 60098, USA
The Holiday season can bring up mixed emotions of joy, sadness, anxiety and stress. Self care is essential at this time of year.
Resetting from Thanksgiving and In preparation of the up coming holidays the Sound Bath on December 6th is targeted to create awareness of our emotions, release any negative feelings and bring our bodies into peace and harmony. You will leave feeling invigorated and relaxed. Lori also brings a small gift for each attendee that focuses on healing and self care.
REGISTER HERE!
A sound bath is a full body meditative experience that assists you into a deeper state of consciousness, giving you the chance to unplug and focus on your inner self. The use of crystal singing bowls and gongs create deep vibrations at specific frequencies to help you relax, reduce stress, release toxins, relieve physical pains and improve cognition and inner peace.
About Lori Lea:
My journey of reconnecting and healing started after experiencing burnout from working over 20 years in the corporate world. In 2019, I attended a Holistic Healing Expo and a few speakers stories completely resonated with me which put me on the energy healing path. After obtaining a few certifications as Energy Healing Practitioner and Sound Practitioner, I discovered Sound Baths reach a broader audience which lifts people up without any fear and alleviates stress and brings people’s body back into harmony. Especially, with the busyness of the world and the overstimulation of our lives with little time for self care sharing the tranquility and transformation of sound healing is a true passion of mine.
Be sure to bring something comfortable to sit on - a yoga mat, pillow or blanket, and arrive 10-15 minutes early to find a good spot to get settled.

Dec 14 - Drawing the Buddha Using Tibetan Iconometry: In this class, we will concentrate on producing our own image of Buddha Shakyamuni's face, using the grid system based on Tibetan tradition. Many of you have seen Tibetan thangkas - those wonderfully detailed paintings on cloth that are usually 'framed' by strips of brocade fabric. Tibetan religious imagery uses a strict grid system in order to ensure a homogenous depiction of the various enlightened beings, meditational deities, Bodhisattvas, mandalas, and legendary and historical events. The grids are based on the ideal measurements of the human body and face, and have been perfected over many centuries. Using a grid system also allows the artist to expand or shrink the image to any size needed. (Some appliqué thangkas cover a hillside!) In this class, we will concentrate on producing our own image of Buddha Shakyamuni's face, using the grid system. Any age can participate - you need only know how to use a ruler.

Imagine floating in an ocean of sound, where you can let go of all your stress and worries. Gongs, Singing Bowls, Bells, and other instruments ring out, creating waves of vibrations that wash over you. Your mind, body, and energy systems are able to realign and recharge, helping to clear out blockages, while leaving you refreshed and reawakened. In our over stressed world, these primordial sounds can help us reach a space of calm and healing within ourselves.
He is also able to speak about the instruments, putting them into a historical and cultural context; as well as demonstrating both the sounds and techniques he uses in a meditation session or concert.
Michael a professional percussionist, based in Milwaukee, WI, with over 40 years of experience playing all types of music. He bought my first Gong in 1975 and was hooked. Since then, he’s researched and studied the affects sound can have on our minds and bodies. For the past 18 years, he has been working mostly with Gongs, Singing Bowls, Bells, and other resonant metal instruments under the name GONGTOPIA, presenting Gong Meditation sessions and solo percussion concerts. He has released over 40 recordings under his name. His long running blogs, The Way of the Gong™, Art As A Spiritual Practice, and, Percussion Deconstruction™, have been embraced by both the meditation/sound therapy, and percussion communities.
